ThingLink Newsletter 1/2011

"Dear ThingLink users,

For the past three years our favorite idea has been this: "Every thing has a story, and you should be able to access and refer to that story." This means everyday objects around us become points of navigation, they may take us anywhere - anywhere we want. ThingLink private beta, thanks to you, helped us to understand how everyday objects can become social and drive social activity. Many of the features first created and tested in the Beta site will be rebuilt and improved on ThingLink.com. Today everyday objects can tell stories on images, they can take you to a new place, and play sounds or music. We are committed to improving your storytelling tools each month, and telling you about them in our newsletters."

Over the past few months, we have launched new important updates that will help you use ThingLink in a more social and engaging way. In order to make sure you are aware of these changes, we are sending this update to all ThingLink users.

Image tagging and inspiring examples

Right now ThingLink features interactive in-image tags – hotspots that reveal contextual information as well as more detailed information through links. We also provide real-time statistics on user interaction with images to allow you to see how your image tags are doing.

Share and play music through your images

Our users have spoken and we have listened. We recently released new features which will make images shareable in two ways: anyone can share a favorite image via Twitter and Facebook, and bloggers can freely copy an image (in the interactive format with tags) and embed it in a blog post. You are now also able to insert sound links and Twitter profiles into image tags, allowing for anyone to play songs and connect with others directly in your image. This is only the beginning, we have tons of features in store for you.

What do I do now?

The only thing you need to do if you want to start using the in-image tagging tool is to sign up. The new features will be available to everyone automatically and you don’t have to enable them. These new features will make it possible for you to share your content more easily, creating more traffic to your site, blog and images.
