ARTE.MOV LIVE ANNOUNCES AWARD WINNERS SELECTED locative media is THE COMPETITIVE EXHIBITION
In its fifth edition, the Festival awards young artists and expands the boundaries of audiovisual formats
How to take ownership of technology and gadgets of communication in the context of art and audiovisual production? This is one of the edicts promoted by Live arte.mov. The Festival, which this year began its circuit diffusion through Rio de Janeiro, and will pass through Recife, Goiania, Curitiba and Sao Paulo, happens in its 6th edition in Belo Horizonte 25-29 April. Sponsored by the Vivo, the event takes place with the "Competitive Exhibition Video", using portable devices as a platform for both production and viewing, distributing 42,000 dollars in prizes to the winners.
The Festival, which established a single edict in Brazil, the Award for "Locative Media" for new uses of digital communication tools, today announced the winning projects Locative Media in category "Off Vista on Vista II" Denise Agassi ( SP) and "3CO," Ricardo Brazileiro (PE), the latter as a special jury prize.
The winners will have their works exhibited during the Festival Live arte.mov. For Denise Agassi, the space opened by Festival for experimentation in new media is crucial. "I admire the arte.mov and it is an honor to participate. What is displayed in the festival are well developed research and cutting-edge projects. It's nice to have a space for dialogue in the art world. The arte.mov does work toward bringing the art technology," Agassi remarks.
"Vista on Vista Off II" obtained the support of the residence of LabMis in 2011, with the contribution of the award of the Locative Media Live arte.mov can finally move beyond São Paulo and laboratory conditions in which it was created. The work is defined by the author as a "net locative art," and uses the stock Youtube videos as a sort of "glasses". Connected to a digital compass, the device "spatializes" videos by tags that refer to pre selected panoramas. Currently at the Museum of Image and Sound in Sao Paulo, Denise will adapt the videos to work with images of Belo Horizonte. "The idea is to see what you can not see. Using the Internet as a form of spatial information on sights," he explains.
The Competitive Show Live 2012 arte.mov reflects what is being produced in Brazil within the context of mobility and digital culture. We chose 43 works by authors from all over Brazil, which will be exhibited during the Festival. The finalists will sift through popular and also by a committee, formed by artists and thinkers Arlindo Machado (SP), Gustavo Spolidoro (RS), Cicero Silva (SP), Claudia Mesquita (MG) and Monica Bello (Spain). The big winner will be announced at the end of arte.mov, the prize of ten thousand dollars.
