Imagine a world in which Matthew Broderick’s character in War Games found out about WOPR via Twitter.
Whether or not Broderick’s character would have started World War III with 140 characters is something Elseworlds’ authors will surely tackle. In the meantime, the idea of Twitter being invented in the 80s is genius. Of all the social networks, Twitter is the only one that would have actually worked back then. It’s the constantly updating BBS of the 21st century.
Ah, modem handshake sound, how I’ve missed you.
