Augmented Reality: TourWrist 2.4

*A strange thing, the smartphone app. Imagine describing TourWrist to somebody twenty years ago. "It's the YouTube of panos." What?

TourWrist:

"Yesterday, with Apple's strategic support, we released a version of our app which is the perfect compliment to the new panoramic photography mode. With TourWrist and 1-2 minutes, you can upload a pano shot from their new Camera app, and view it in immersive, 360º by waving your iPhone or iPad around like a movable window.

"TourWrist is essentially the YouTube of panos, remaining agnostic in terms of where this content comes from. So it's no surprise that Apple has taken a liking to us, asking us well in advance of the new iOS release to let them know the moment we submitted our next version (which was Saturday), presumably because we're such a strong compliment to their new panoramic photo feature. To date, our platform has garnered about one million users and 50,000 panos. Also noteworthy, we won the MacWorld Best of Show honor earlier this year, as well as DEMO God and DEMO People's Choice awards in April (which included $1M in advertising).

"Some more details:

"We store and seek out metadata with each pano, so that when they're published, our users know which city they were shot in, who shot them, what type of environment they depict and many other details that can be manually entered.

"From our website, you can add detailed descriptions, custom thumbnails, and most importantly, interactive PanoSpots which allow you to link specific areas of your pano to websites, photos, video, and even other panos. This is a virtual tour platform for the masses.

"From our website, and with just one click, you can also generate embed code to place panos in any website. We provide two versions: iFrame and popup.

"Sharing is obviously built right into the app, so letting your friends and customers know of new panos is fun and easy.

"TourWrist is 100% free. The app is free. The services are free. And there are no upgrades that we charge for."
