*As the years tumble by, why off they, go one by one, my Wired editors, to start private tool-retail websites, to build their own private 3DPrinted drone factories, to join promising media startups run by serial web entrepreneurs... and here I am, a relic of the age of the typewriter, still at the old kiosk and lamenting about God knows what (sniff)...
"Friends and colleagues,
"After eight years as editor in chief of Wired.com, I've moved on. Starting Monday I'll be joining Obvious Corp., where I'll be working with Twitter co-founder Ev Williams and team to create a new kind of online publication, Medium (www.medium.com).
"Our goal is to create new publishing tools and a new kind of content platform that encourages and rewards high quality writing – not just the lastest post at the top of the feed. I'll be in charge of developing editorial out of San Francisco with a focus on technology, science and business.
"We've been talking for months about working together, and the deal was finally sealed this week.
"Among other things, I'll be recruiting freelance writers, taking story pitches and making assignments. After years handling business, admin and tech problems, it feels great to get back to writing and editing.
"If you'd like to know more about Medium, get an invite to try it, or have a story you'd like to see on Medium, please let me know.
My new email address is [email protected].
