Near Now Fellowship

Broadway is proud to announce a new national scheme to support the artistic and professional development of UK-based practitioners across art, design, technology and education disciplines through a 15 month Fellowship with Near Now.
Near Now is Broadway's commissioning and artist development programme, working closely with artists and designers to produce and present playful projects that critically explore the place and impact of technology in everyday life. Supported by Arts Council England, Near Now invests in practice-led research across art, design, technology and education, acting as a development programme for artistic talent and bold ideas.
Near Now Fellows will be practitioners displaying exceptional artistic talent, who are aware of contemporary and historical art, design and technology theory and praxis but whose work is grounded in contemporary culture, who critically reflect on their work and have a desire to challenge their practice and push their career forward.
The Near Now Fellowship, between January 2014 and March 2015, will support a total of three practitioners through a tailored development programme, following a structured and longitudinal model including peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and critical feedback. Broadway will make a long-term commitment to supporting, developing and positioning Fellows and their work within a national context; through the Fellowship, Broadway will provide production management and support practitioners in securing finance to realise an ambitious new body of work.
Fellows will have a strong commitment to producing and presenting work in the Midlands region but may be based anywhere within the UK. We welcome applications from a broad range of practices and specialism across art, design, technology and education.
