Andrew Couts

Andrew Couts is Director, Security & Investigations at WIRED overseeing cybersecurity, privacy, surveillance, policing, crime, and national security coverage. He also oversees investigations across WIRED's newsroom. Prior to WIRED, he served as executive editor of Gizmodo and politics editor at the Daily Dot. He was part of teams whose works have won a 2024 Sigma Award; a 2023 Philip Meyer Journalism Award; the 2022 Edward R. Murrow National Award, Investigative Reporting; the 2022 NABJ Salute to Excellence Award; the 2022 Society of Professional Journalists New America Award; and the 2018 National Press Foundation Technology in Journalism Award.
