*I didn't realize that Florence Knoll had been orphaned at age 12 and more-or-less adopted by the Cranbrook design school. A strange place, Cranbrook.
*I'm not a huge personal fan of 20th century modernist furniture, but there's something great about the impulse to "clean up the slum of legs" with radically unusual pedestal Saarinen Tulip chairs, and then being willing to actually manufacture those chairs, stock them, distribute them, and keep them in production for decades on end, to the point where you can go out and buy one right now.
