Gallery: Peek Inside a Rolling Mongolian Xanadu
morlock-fotografie01xanadu-exterior
Earlier this week, we told you about the twin custom Mercedes-Benz Zetros trucks that were turned into rolling pleasure palaces for a couple of wealthy Mongolian businessmen. Now, you get to have a look inside. The copper magnate and brewery owner sure love hunting wolves with eagles, but aren't so thrilled about having to ride a horse and sleep in a tent to get to the best hunting grounds. So they bought two [military-spec Mercedes-Benz Zetros trucks](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/autopia/2011/03/mongolian-hunters-turn-a-big-benz-into-xanadu-on-six-wheels/) -- for when a Unimog just can't cut it -- and fitted them with customized interiors packed with every feature from satellite-equipped flatscreen TVs to bidets. Thankfully, Daimler has given us an exclusive look inside these luxurious vehicles. They're bigger and posher than any apartment we've ever lived in, and even though they're the only six-wheeled off-road capable campers we've ever seen, we can safely say they're the nicest ones out there. *All Photos: Daimler*

The Two Trucks -------------- The twin custom Zetros trucks are identical in almost every way. Only one truck has a storage bay for an ATV, and each vehicle has a different custom paint job. One is painted with the outline of an eagle, while the other is given twin horses at full gallop. Either way, the motifs look tacky and belie the tastefulness within.

Spare Tire Storage ------------------ In the wilderness of Mongolia, you can't exactly call AAA if you get a flat tire. That's why the Zetros is fitted with two spare tires fitted onto wheels.
morlock-fotografie04outdoor-shower
The Outdoor Shower ------------------ Aside from the diamond-plated chrome enclosure, these high-end fixtures wouldn't be out of place in a luxury hotel. Now, take a moment to consider this is the *outdoor shower*, so guests don't sully the interior with blood, sweat and fur from a long day of hunting wolves.
morlock-fotografie05interior
The Interior ------------ The interior of the vehicle was converted from a utilitarian military transporter by interior equipment specialist Huenerkopf of Neukirchen, Germany. Only the finest finishes suffice for a vehicle meant to bring a little luxury into the wilds of Mongolia.

The Wood Paneling ----------------- Why do even the classiest motorhomes have more wood paneling than the rumpus room in your Aunt Mabel's split-level? Luckily, this wood doesn't darken the interior too much. The interior is split into four sections: Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living area.

The Bathroom Sink ----------------- After dressing the animals you've shot, wash the blood off your hands in a large bathroom sink made of manufactured stone and installed in custom-built cabinetry. High-end designer fixtures are so civilized, even far from civilization.

The Bathroom ------------ Located across the hallway from the kitchen and in front of the living space, the bathroom features a sink, combination bidet/toilet and heated marble floors. Mirrors cover a storage cabinet.

The Living Space and Kitchen ---------------------------- With the bathroom door closed, the living space and kitchen are part of an open floor plan that's surprisingly roomy. Recessed light fixtures keep the interior bright but don't use up valuable space.
morlock-fotografie10shower
The Shower ---------- The indoor shower is a perfect place to relax and clean off after a long day of hunting. A 66-gallon tank provides water that's either filtered for drinking or sent to a five-gallon hot water heater for showering or cooking.
morlock-fotografie11kitchen-and-hallway
The Kitchen and Hallway ----------------------- The kitchen features Miele appliances, including a two-burner ceramic cooktop, stainless refrigerator and freezer, microwave and coffee maker. A dinner service for eight was specially designed to fit snugly in limited cabinet space.
morlock-fotografie12bedroom
The Bedroom ----------- A platform bed located above the generator and ATV storage at the rear of the truck makes up the "bedroom." There's plenty of room to spread out, though not much headroom. Our commentary ends there.
morlock-fotografie13television
The Television -------------- While in bed, guests can watch a 40-inch LED television that's mounted on the wall. On the opposing wall, those in the living area can watch a 46-inch television. Even in remote areas, there's something to watch other than the sunset or the glory of nature, as the vehicles are equipped with a satellite receiver with an electrically self-aligning satellite dish, a DVD/CD player, an MP3 player, a Bose hi-fi sound system and a Mac Mini plus W-LAN router.
morlock-fotografie14dining-room
The Dining Room --------------- The living/dining area seats six people comfortably. From the table, guests can watch a 46" television or eat from a customized dinner service.
morlock-fotografie15guest-bedroom
Guest Bedroom ------------- If more room is needed for guests to sleep, the telescoping table legs fold into a platform for bedding cushions.
morlock-fotografie16control-panel
The Control Panel ----------------- Operating entertainment systems, controls pumps, water heaters, climate control systems and vehicle access, the control panel takes care of a lot of details.
morlock-fotografie17the-cab
The Cab ------- With such an elegant interior, the cab is surprisingly spartan. A platform provides additional sleeping area in a very gray enclosure that gives owners a sense of how other Zetros drivers live.

Lighting -------- Far from any streetlamps, good lighting is essential. The Zetros features custom front and rear spotlights plus exterior lighting and fog lamps.
