Gallery: More of the Best TV, Movies and Music of 2012, Chosen by You
01adventure-time
Over the last several weeks, we've posted our year-end roundups of the [best television](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/underwire/2012/12/best-tv-2012/), top albums, and [most underrated movies](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/underwire/2012/12/best-movies-didnt-see/) of 2012. We thought we made some pretty good choices, but since no list is ever going to be comprehensive in the eyes of the fan whose favorite didn't make the cut, Wired readers had some suggestions of their own. With the help of your generous and in no way angry comments, we've compiled a new list of 10 TV shows, movies and albums that deserved props in 2012 -- as dictated by you. __Above:__ *__Adventure Time__* -------------------- How could we forget *Adventure Time*? In retrospect, we have no idea what we were thinking. "It's smart, unique, hilarious, and full of humanity," said Wired reader Rick Falcon. "Agreed! *Adventure Time* is endlessly inventive!" added Brock Parks. You're all right. We were so wrong! Quirky, hilarious and unexpectedly full of humanity, *Adventure Time* continues to get better with every season and is quickly earning a place as a modern animation classic for kids and grownups alike. Mea culpa.
02american-horror-story
__*American Horror Story*__ --------------------------- "Where is American Horror Story on this list??" asked Kristian Urosevic. That's a trick question, Kristian. *It wasn't there*. But in its second season, *American Horror Story: Asylum* got crazier, more claustrophobic and unpredictable, bringing its special brand of shocks and scare tactics to an insane asylum full of crazed nuns who believe mental illness is just another word for sin. Between the canings, racism and homophobia, you'll almost definitely have moments where you wonder why you're watching this show -- but you will be anyway.
03suits
__*Suits*__ ----------- We failed to include the legal drama *Suits* in our original list, outraging several of our readers. "I will sue you guys for that!" said Zentrope. We'd prefer to avoid any in-no-way-actionable legal complications, so we've added the USA show to our list. Rife with reliably appealing lawyers experiencing reliably dramatic drama, *Suits* is a show that Wired Editor Adam Rogers assures us is absolutely, totally pretty good. And we believe him.
Joe Alblas04judge-dredd
__*Judge Dredd*__ ----------------- "Most underrated and under-seen movie of the year: *DREDD*," said Kevin Kirby, a sentiment about the dystopian comic book-inspired film that was affirmed by numerous commenters -- and our own [movie review](:http://stag-komodo.wired.com/underwire/2012/09/review-dredd-3d"): "*Dredd 3D* might be the only movie ever to make audiences say, 'Did you see that guy get his face blown off? It was beautiful!' Ultraviolence isn’t for everyone, but for those who like their carnage over the top, this movie is aces." http://www.youtube.com/embed/PifvRiHVSCY
05seven-psychopaths
__*Seven Psychopaths*__ ----------------------- After reading our list of underrated films, David Lee was "surprised I didn't see *Seven Psychopaths* on here." Fair enough. A rollicking trip through dog-theft and black humor with Woody Harrelson, Colin Farrell and Christopher Walken, *Seven Psychopaths* was an unabashed good time that was both more violent and far more clever than it needed to be. <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,47,0" height="436" id="flashObj" width="404"><param name="movie" value="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9?isVid=1"></param><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF"></param><param name="flashVars" value="videoId=1832959757001&linkBaseURL=http%3A%2F%2Fstag-komodo.wired.com%2Fvideo%2Fculture%2Fculture%2F194079288001%2Fseven-psychopaths%2F1832959757001&playerID=1813626064&playerKey=AQ~~,AAAAAF1BIQQ~,g5cZB_aGkYZXG-DCZXT7a-c4jcGaSdDQ&domain=embed&dynamicStreaming=true"></param><param name="base" value="http://admin.brightcove.com"></param><param name="seamlesstabbing" value="false"></param><param name="swLiveConnect" value="true"></param><embed allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" base="http://admin.brightcove.com" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" flashvars="videoId=1832959757001&linkBaseURL=http%3A%2F%2Fstag-komodo.wired.com%2Fvideo%2Fculture%2Fculture%2F194079288001%2Fseven-psychopaths%2F1832959757001&playerID=1813626064&playerKey=AQ~~,AAAAAF1BIQQ~,g5cZB_aGkYZXG-DCZXT7a-c4jcGaSdDQ&domain=embed&dynamicStreaming=true" height="436" name="flashObj" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" seamlesstabbing="false" src="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9?isVid=1" swliveconnect="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="404"></embed></object>
06farewell-my-queen
__*Farewell My Queen*__ ----------------------- "One should try to list movies that most people really have not heard of much less seen. Such as *The Kid with the Bike, Footnote, Farewell My Queen, Unforgivable, In The Family, The Turn Horse, The Deep Blue Sea, Keep The Lights On*," said Wired reader Matt Langdon. Not sure we agree with your obscurity threshold -- and technically, only two of those movies were from 2012 -- but point well taken with *Farewell My Queen*, a French tale of lady-on-lady intrigue in the court of Marie Antoinette as the shadow of the French Revolution begins to descend. http://www.youtube.com/embed/tOQfyExCVQk
07macklemore-and-ryan-lewis-the-heist
__Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - *The Heist*__ ------------------------------------------- After our album roundup name-checked Lamar Kendrick, sometimes dubbed the "savior" of West Coast rap, reader Bill Larson took issue. "[Check out](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrEJmvuKSwo) Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. He is the one who will really save West Coast rap." The irresistible beats of "Thrift Shop," a hilarious paean to the joys of second-hand shopping, are a strong supporting argument. 08fiona-apple-the-idler-wheel
__Fiona Apple - *The Idler Wheel*__ ----------------------------------- "I'd put Fiona Apple's *The Idler Wheel* on a top-10 list on top of a few of these albums, personally," said commenter mrorie. With all its idiosyncratic melodies, raw emotion and absurdly long album title, *The Idler Wheel* is everything you've come to expect from Fiona Apple elevated and crystallized in its most challenging and rewarding form yet. The album came very close to making our list the first time around, and we're happy to include it now. [#iframe: https://embed.spotify.com/?uri=spotify:track:4zNgZaFsNmFXlFU4wvgi0U](300x380)||||||
09rush-clockwork-angels
__Rush - *Clockwork Angels*__ ----------------------------- Boy oh boy, did you guys like Rush. "*Clockwork* from Rush is the best CD of the year by far. 20-years from now, everyone will recognize these dudes for the geniuses that they are," insisted Frank Durman. "Definitely should be on this list. Finally the band gets recognized by it's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame." "Agreed," said Phideau. "Definitely some of the best Rush I've heard in a very long time." Sam Peterson cosigned the sentiment: "Completely right you are, and I think it's one of Rush's most solid yet!" "'The Anarchist' on *Clockwork Angels* is awesome," added bombingdownhills. All right already! We hear you! Consider Rush recognized. 10caspian-waking-season
__Caspian - *Waking Season*__ ----------------------------- Our inclusion of The xx's *Coexist* rubbed sevenwords the wrong way, or at least our subsequently exclusion of a certain other hypnotic post-rock band. "Caspian - *Waking Season* should be on that list instead of The xx." After listening to the slow, shimmering build of the title track and beyond, we can't help but agree.
