Today, Dyson is releasing its first robotic vacuum cleaner: the 360 Eye.

The 360 Eye features many hallmarks of a Dyson vacuum cleaner: Cyclone technology and strong suction power, thanks to its digital motor.

To navigate, the Eye uses a 360-degree camera (seen on top here, ringed in blue) that views the room at a 45 degree angle, and takes 30 pictures per second. This becomes a live map of the room.

When the Eye leaves its charging dock, it triangulates its position in the room, finds the center, and then spirals outward, vacuuming one 10 square-foot area at a time.

Tank-track wheels power the Eye to neatly climb over ledges or door frames, getting dust out of hard-to-reach cracks along the way.
