Gallery: Gifts for the Gamer Who Has Everything
01udraw
I'm a gamer. So of course, nobody ever buys me any videogames for Christmas. Why would they? Gamers don't wait around for people to buy us videogames; we go to the store and buy the ones we want the day they come out. And even if there were games we wish people would buy for us, it would be a fool's errand for someone outside the hobby to try to select the right game. Inevitably, we already purchased it or rented it — or just plain don't want it. You could just ask us what we want, but then where's the surprise? But you're still trying to find something videogame-related for the gamer in your life, or else why would you be here? You're very brave. We're going to try to help. Here are Wired.com's gift ideas for gamers. We've populated our picks with items that your favorite gamer more than likely doesn't already have — and doesn't even know they want. __Above:__ uDraw Tablet ------------ This could be the under-the-radar sleeper hit of the year. While there are many Wii accessories out there, none are so fundamentally transformative as THQ's uDraw tablet, which lets you paint elaborate creations and play Pictionary — all on your TV screen. The surprisingly high-quality accessory boasts some cool features — you can hover the stylus over the tablet to move the on-screen cursor, for example. It's the perfect gift for a budding young artist, but adults will enjoy it. The included paint program lets you export your artwork to an SD card. But for us, the real draw was the $30 Pictionary game, sold separately. It's great to play in a big group where everyone can see the TV clearly. __Price:__ $70 (games $30), [THQ for Wii](http://www.worldofudraw.com/), available now
02pvzsoundtrack-1
Plants vs. Zombies Official Soundtrack -------------------------------------- Laura Shigihara's soundtrack is just one of the things that makes PopCap's [Plants vs. Zombies](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/gamelife/2009/05/plants-vs-zombies/) one of the most talked-about games of the past year. For just $10, you can download everything — Shigihara's original MIDI work that had to be down-sampled and remixed for the PC game, plus the tracks as they appeared in the final product. It even includes the surprisingly fitting Japanese version of "[Zombies on Your Lawn](http://plantsvszombies.wikia.com/wiki/Zombies_on_Your_Lawn)," which fits perfectly in the J-pop genre. __Price:__ $10, [Bandcamp](http://laurashigihara.bandcamp.com/album/plants-vs-zombies-soundtrack), available now
03extra-chris
Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter ----------------------------------- Novelist Tom Bissell turns his attention to videogames, producing one of the most unique, well-written and insightful books about the medium and the hobby. Bissell blends his own personal stories (playing Resident Evil for the first time in his stepfather's living room) with unique observations about the industry (a ride in Cliff Blezsinski's Lamborghini at Epic Games). Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter is concise in its goals but wide-ranging in its scope. Bissell is the perfect blend of dispassionate observer and gaming aficionado; he gets his facts right and knows what's important, but his outsider perspective lets him see the forest where the average "videogame journalist" can't stop looking at the trees. __Price:__ $23, [Pantheon](http://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/display.pperl/9780307378705.html), available now
04pac-manhothead-648
Pac-Man Hotheads ---------------- Your favorite gamer probably already has those [Space Invaders ice cube trays](http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/retro/b51f/), right? Here's something that will continue turning their kitchen into a pastiche of every classic videogame. Why use boring old potholders when you could have the Pac-Man Hothead, a silicone potholder in the shape of videogames' most famous eater? (Guaranteed not to actually eat your cookies.) __Price:__ $15, [Fred](http://www.worldwidefred.com/pac-manhothead.htm), available now
05angrybird
Angry Birds Plush Toys ---------------------- The fowl-flinging action of Angry Birds has made it one of the most popular and ubiquitous touchscreen mobile games. The only thing that's missing is the ability to throw birds at things in real life without having to clean up a lot of scattered bird organs and feathers later. Enter the complete line of Angry Birds plushies from Commonwealth. Buy your favorite bird (Red's fierce frown or Blue's anxious wide eyes?) for $15 each or just give up all pretense of restraint and get the entire set (plus matching pigs). __Price:__ $15 each, [Commonwealth](http://www.toywiz.com/angrybirds.html), available December
06exerciser
Hand Exerciser -------------- Have you tried Rock Band 3 yet? With each iteration, Harmonix's music game gets closer and closer to the real thing. If you want to play Pro guitar on the Squier Stratocaster that the company will release March 1, 2011, you're going to need to do the same things the professionals do — build up your finger strength and get some calluses going. A musician's finger exerciser, like the Varigrip, might be just the thing for the Rock Band devotee. You can even adjust the tension on each finger. __Price:__ $18, [Planet Waves](http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Planet-Waves-Varigrip-Hand-Exerciser?sku=580112), available now
07stealth-mouse-lrg
Call of Duty Stealth Mouse -------------------------- Even if your gamer has no interest in playing Call of Duty: Black Ops on the PC (or in playing PC games at all, actually) you might consider this high-end gaming mouse from Mad Catz. The five user-definable custom buttons and adjustable DPI settings are cool and all, but what really impressed us was how you can adjust the length, width and even weight of the mouse to perfectly fit your hand size and grip style. There's even an optional pinky rest. Aw. __Price:__ $100, [Mad Catz](http://callofduty.gameshark.com/stealth_mouse.asp), available now
08tron-light-cycle
Tron: Legacy Zero-Gravity Light Cycle ------------------------------------- Bored with those radio-control cars that only race on the boring old floor? Grab one of Disney's [RC Tron light cycles](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/underwire/2010/06/tron-toys/) and your whole house can be turned into [the Grid](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/underwire/2010/11/tron-legacy-trailer-the-grid/). Suction technology makes the cycle stick to the walls and ceilings while you drive it around. Adults will want to grab the controls and try this out, even if it sounds noisy as heck. __Price:__ $40, [Disney](http://www.disneystore.com/tron-legacy-light-cycle-sam-flynn-zero-gravity-rc-vehicle/mp/1271934/1000268/), available now
09robot-unicorn
Robot Unicorn Attack Christmas ------------------------------ Do you know the password to your loved one's iPhone? In the holiday spirit, may we suggest that you *not* use it to spy on their text messages and instead use it to leave a surprise brand-new game on their device for Christmas morning? There are thousands of games you might consider, but we've narrowed it down using the rigorous criteria of what was the last one we played. Robot Unicorn Attack Christmas is a $1, holiday-themed version of the popular Adult Swim timewaster. Your mission is still to make a robot unicorn run and jump and not die, but now it's set to the dulcet tones of The Darkness' "[Christmas Time](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-eslNwGXrI)." Perfect. __Price:__ $1, [Adult Swim](http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/robot-unicorn-attack-christmas/id400986775?mt=8) (iTunes link), available now
