Google Pixel Fold Camera Samples

Google Pixel Fold, main camera. This is Tobu and he is very cute. There wasn't a lot of light in this room but my pup's face is tack sharp, and the colors are realistic.

Google Pixel Fold, main camera. What I like most about Google's imaging process is that it often accentuates contrast without brightening things up too much, which is all too common on other phones, and it doesn't crank up the saturation to an unnatural degree. The flowers were almost exactly this color, and it was an overcast day.

Google Pixel Fold, Portrait mode. Compare this photo with the following one from Samsung's folding phone. The Pixel Fold's shot is sharp, the blur effect is pretty good around the subject, and it looks *real*.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, Portrait mode. Samsung's version of this shot is *heavily* edited. The colors are dialed up like crazy. It's certainly not a bad photo as it's super sharp and the portrait effect is nice—you might like it more than the Pixel's shot—but I prefer a more natural look.

Photograph: Julian Chokkattu05Google Pixel Fold, main camera. Compare this photo with the following image. The Pixel doesn't oversharpen often, which means the photos don't look too "processed." The colors are nice here, and details are sharp.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu06Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, main camera. Samsung's photo has unnatural colors (the sky, the tree in the back), and it causes the whole thing to look *off*.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu07Google Pixel Fold, 5X optical zoom, Night Sight. Low-light photos with the Pixel Fold are often sharp enough, with colors still seeping through. It was extremely dark on this street, and this is an impressive result that doesn't even come from the main camera.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu08Google Pixel Fold, 5X optical zoom. The Pixel Fold brings the 5X optical zoom from the Pixel 7 Pro, which is nicer to have than the 3X optical zoom on the Galaxy Z Fold4. You can get sharp photos of subjects far away.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu09Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, 3X optical zoom. Samsung's 3X optical zoom is certainly an excellent option to have, but you can see the same processing leads to a photo that's over-saturated and just not as pleasing to look at as the Pixel's images.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu10Google Pixel Fold, main camera, Night Sight. My hallway can get quite dark during the day, and the Pixel Fold automatically switched Night Sight mode on to capture a sharp photo of my pup.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu11Google Pixel Fold, inner selfie camera. The selfie camera on the inside of the Pixel Fold is pretty decent. It's fixed focus, so your photos are never going to be super sharp, but it gets close, and the colors are quite nice.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu12Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, inner selfie camera. I can't say the same fore the inner camera on the Galaxy Z Fold4. It loses a lot of details and just doesn't look great for such an expensive phone.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu13Google Pixel Fold, main camera with external screen preview. A big part of folding phones is using the superior rear cameras for selfies by using the external screen as a viewfinder. Just make sure you set the Pixel Fold down on a table and keep it upright by folding it slightly. You can trigger the shutter by holding your palm up at the screen but you need to be on a timer mode.
