iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Sample Images

iPhone 13 Pro, macro camera. Bring the iPhone 13 close enough to a subject (up to 2 cm away), and it'll switch to the ultrawide camera, which can autofocus and doubles as a macro camera. Boop\!

iPhone 13 Pro, 3x telephoto camera. The telephoto camera can zoom further than the iPhone 13 Pro's predecessor. This is a tricky shot, yet it handles it well, keeping the foreground lit while maintaining the bright exposure from the sun.

iPhone 13 Pro, ultrawide camera. Here's the ultrawide when it's not up close to a subject. In broad daylight, the results are quite sharp and colorful.

iPhone 13 Pro, macro camera. Autofocusing on objects so close can be tricky because your hands are constantly shaking and your subject might not always be very still. On this photo, the iPhone focused on the petals instead of the yellow part. I recommend using a tripod.

Photograph: Julian Chokkattu05iPhone 13 Pro Max, main camera. It's hard to be disappointed at photos taken by the main camera during the day. In this new model, the camera has a wider aperture so it can take in more light.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu06iPhone 12 Pro, Portrait Night mode. The Pro models are still the only ones in the lineup with the lidar sensor, just like last year, which can help with autofocus in low light and capturing a depth map. It's what makes it possible to shoot low-light portrait mode photos, and this result bested a photo I took with Google's Pixel 5A, by a huge margin.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu07iPhone 13 Pro, ultrawide camera, Night mode. The ultrawide has a wider aperture that can take in more light too, and paired with Night mode, you can capture some pretty decent shots when it's super dark out. That said, compare this photo with the following one.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu08iPhone 12 Pro, ultrawide camera, Night mode. The iPhone 12 Pro isn't drastically far off. You can see there's a whole lot more noise here, especially in the sky, and if you zoom in, details aren't as sharp as the iPhone 13 Pro. But both are more similar than they are different.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu09iPhone 13 Pro Max, 3x telephoto zoom camera. Zoom cameras are great. They let you get close to a subject without physically having to move. But there's nothing significantly *different* on this new Pro model. Compare this with the following photo from Apple's competitor.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu10Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, 10x optical zoom. Earlier this year, Samsung's top-end flagship brought something drastically unique to the US phone market: a 10x zoom camera. You can see the same bench here that was in the previous photo, but I stood at the same place. I'd have loved to see Apple try something similar.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu11iPhone 13 Pro, 3x optical zoom, Night mode. Last year's telephoto camera on the iPhone 12 Pro didn't use Night mode, but that's been rectified. Compare this with the following photo, and you'll notice this one is so much sharper, with more accurate colors.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu12iPhone 12 Pro Max, 2.5x optical zoom camera. This photo is not sharp and its colors are off.
