Gallery: Everything We Learned From the New Ghostbusters Images
Columbia Pictures01ghostbusters-2016-ChrisHemsworth (1)
Meet Kevin. Kevin is played by Chris Hemsworth, who you may know as Thor. In this movie, he’s the sexy secretary. Or is he? The glasses would suggest he’s more bookish than your average sexy secretary. (That’s what glasses *always* mean in films.) Clearly, in the beginning Kevin will be a quiet, shy type—a grad student, maybe? That vest is grad-student all day—who everyone realizes is attractive when he takes off his glasses. We’re guessing that no one objectifies him in this film, because it’s NOT THAT KIND OF MOVIE. However, we *are* guessing that Leslie Jones’ character will mercilessly hit on him and/or slap his butt like a quarterback congratulating his wide receiver. Kevin may also be gay. One thing’s for sure, though: he’s no Janine Melnitz. Annie Potts is irreplaceable.
Columbia Pictures02ghostbusters-2016-KateMcKinnon-1.jpg
So far what we know about Kate McKinnon’s Jillian Holtzmann is that she’s a [“nuclear engineer, munitions expert, proton wrangler.”](http://time.com/4152597/kate-mckinnon-ghostbusters-poster/) This makes her the spiritual successor of Egon Spengler, in case the glasses and hair didn't give that one away. Like Kevin, she's wearing a vest, so maybe they’re vest friends? *Vesties*, maybe? Between the leather jacket and the facial expression, Holtzmann will be bringing the arch, sardonic wit to the crew. And possibly a Lililth Fair mixtape.
Columbia Pictures03ghostbusters-2016-KristenWiig (1)
What we want more than anything is for Kristen Wiig’s Erin Gilbert to be the Peter Venkman of this outfit. But that bow near her neck is a lot more Business Time than Venkman ever was. Beyond the ‘fit, what is she staring at? The derelict firehouse she and her friends are about to call home. The defunct Kim's Video she and her friends are about to call home? Or maybe just dreaming up new jumpsuits for the team. “Lots of pockets,” she’s thinking dreamily. “And stripes.”
Columbia Pictures04ghostbusters-2016-LeslieJones (1)
What little we know about Leslie Jones' Patty Tolan is that she's a subway employee who joins the Ghostbusters after a supernatural encounter. Also, she's got the fresh name chain like it's 1991, so we're just gonna put it all the way out there that she just woke up from a superlong coma and is going to freak out when she sees her first smartphone. Think about it: when's the last time someone went to Ft. Lauderdale on spring break and then wore a T-shirt commemorating that fact? 1991, that's when.
Columbia Pictures05ghostbusters-2016-MelissaMcCarthy (1)
Melissa McCarthy's Abby Yates is....well, she's literally buttoned up, so let's say she's the Dan Aykroyd of the crew this time around. Then again, those glasses are definitely telegraphing *smart and cool*. But wait, the army jacket is telegraphing *Travis Bickle.* And the facial expression is telegraphing *I'm about to slap somebody*. Who are you, Abby Yates? WHO ARE YOU? Is there a clue to be found in the fact that your name anagrams to "Yeasty Bab"? (Probably not; but we just like vaguely gross anagrams.)
Columbia Pictures06ghostbusters-2016-poster
This poster tells us two very important things. 1) the movie is coming out in 3-D, and 2) no one in the marketing department considered the fact that “Who You Gonna Call” is a phrase that might need to end in a question mark.
