SAN DIEGO -- Young or old, famous or fanboy, the geeky siren call of Comic-Con International draws all types of people to the San Diego Convention Center each year. [](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/underwire/tag/comic-con-2010/)With more than 120,000 attendees -- a good proportion of whom dress in costumes that act as overt statements of their fannish allegiances -- the four-day event becomes a genuine cultural melting pot. Some years it's literally melting, but a cool snap turned down the heat on Comic-Con 2010, cutting back noticeably on the amount of nerd sweat in the giant hall where vendors hawk every manner of geekish delight. Melvin White and Sharen McCall of Murrieta, California, check out a map of the show floor. When asked about their trip so far, McCall says, "Guillermo Del Toro was too cool. He signed everything we asked him to."
