Richard Misrach Gallery

From 2009 to 2015, Richard Misrach worked on Border Cantos, capturing traces of human activity along the US-Mexico border. He photographed this Normandy barrier near Ocotillo, California. A line of targets underscores the horizon line in this image captured at a Border Patrol range in Texas. A short section of wall stands in stark contrast to the surrounding landscape in Los Indios, Texas. Footprints surround a backpack discarded in the desert of Calexico, California. Border Patrol drag tires behind their vehicles to smooth out the sand, so as to better capture footprints. This collage depicts multiple drag tires Misrach photographed along the full length of the border. People sunbathe on the Mexican side of the border running through Playas de Tijuana, California. A home uses the border fence as its fourth wall in Colonia Libertad, Tijuana, Mexico. The land seems to end at the border wall in Naco, Arizona. A cabbage crop grows beside the border wall near Brownsville, Texas. The border wall ends abruptly in this image taken near Brownsville, Texas. A teddy bear and other debris litter the ground in Sunland Park, New Mexico. Slacks and a tuna can lie on the ground in the border town of Boulevard, California.
