Samsung Galaxy A53 5G Camera Samples

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, main camera. Compare this photo to the following image. It's detailed, yes, but the building itself is several shades brighter than what it looked like in real life.

Google Pixel 5A, main camera. This is much closer to what the building looked like it. It's not an odd slightly pinkish hue, but a darker brown.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, Night mode. You can snap some pretty nice shots in low light—if you can stay still. I love the deep blacks here, and the detail in the water is preserved well.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, main camera. The sky was nowhere near as blue as this image suggests. This is one of the common issues with this phone camera. If you like that over-saturated look, you'll be happy, but otherwise, you'll want to tone down the saturation in the editing settings.

In high-contrast scenes such as this, you can see the camera trying hard to keep the area under the bridge well exposed while also not blowing out the sky in the background. The effect ends up looking a bit unnatural—the far background almost looks fake.

Photograph: Julian Chokkattu07Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, main camera. Portrait mode, helped by the additional depth sensor on the back of the phone, ensures accurate blur effects around subjects. This low-light image still came out pretty sharp, though it is a bit grainy.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu08Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, main camera. Compare this image with the following Pixel photo. You can tell the Samsung phone is struggling with the highlights from the sky, blowing it out. The colors are a little off too.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu09Google Pixel 5A, main camera. The Pixel's image reflects what the scene looked like in reality. The sky was exactly like it was pictured, and the exposure is more uniform throughout.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu10Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, main camera. Not much to complain about here. The photo is sharp and exposed really well.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu11Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, ultrawide camera. It's a solid photo, but zoom in and you'll see the details are a bit fuzzy everywhere. That wasn't the case with the Pixel 5A's ultrawide image.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu12Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, selfie camera. The selfie camera produces sharp results when there's good lighting. The only nitpick I have is with skin tone. It's *fine* here, but look at the following image and you'll see that Samsung tends to brighten up my skin tone.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu13Google Pixel 5A, selfie camera. This looks a lot more like my normal skin tone. It's sharp, though Samsung's photo is a smidge sharper. I also prefer the more contrasty background here.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu14Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, Portrait mode. This is a pretty decent portrait photo despite the low light. But when there isn't much light, Samsung tends to strip colors away and make them more muted. That's the case here, and the skin tone isn't as accurate as it should be.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu15Google Pixel 5A, Portrait mode. There's more nuance in the skin tone here—you can see hues of red, whereas it's all quite flat on Samsung's photo. Better yet, the sweater and other colors in the photo are much more closer to real life, and sharper too.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu16Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, Night mode. This is a pretty great image for a $450 phone. I like the warmer color tone, but when it comes to exposing some of the streetlights, signs, and just the sheer detail, it's not *as* good as the Pixel 5A.
Photograph: Julian Chokkattu17Google Pixel 5A, Night Sight. This photo is sharper than the A53's image—look at the sign in the center-left and you can read it much more clearly. That said, the white balance is a little too cool.
