Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, 108-megapixel mode. The blur effect behind this flower isn't software-generated through some type of portrait mode. The large image sensor allows this phone to naturally get DSLR-like bokeh effects.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, main camera. Everything is well-exposed in this high-contrast scene. The underside of the bridge is far from dark, and the sky isn't blown out. The area on the left does look heavily processed with slightly off colors though.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Live Focus. I was surprised to see Samsung's portrait mode working on my dog, who was quite a ways away from me. It's not perfect, but the fall-off blur looks nice.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Night mode. This area was very yellow, but I'm not a fan of what Samsung did with the lamp posts. Some details are also a smidge blurry, like the bench.

Google Pixel 4A, Night Sight mode. The Pixel went a bit overboard with white balance, greatly removing the yellow tones, but the detail here is sharper.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, 5x zoom camera. I was quite a distance from this mural. At 5x zoom, you can get much closer to subjects than the 2x zoom on most other phones. There's lots of good detail here and nice colors too.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, 5x zoom camera. Candid shots like these aren't really possible on smartphones without standing right in front of the subject. That's not the case when you can zoom in from a distance. I quite like the colors in this shot.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, main camera. The phone fares well indoors too when there's not a ton of light. You can see the individual strands of hair on my dog's face (and all the fur he leaves behind on the couch).

Google Pixel 4A, main camera. The Pixel opts for more natural-looking colors and that's particularly evident in this shot. Sometimes, it can give an edge to the Samsung phone if you prefer punchier colors.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Night mode. This scene was much darker than this image lets on. The Note 20 Ultra managed to light it all up and preserve most of the colors.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, selfie camera. The 10-megapixel selfie camera is solid, offering up nice colors. It's not a fixed focus lens like on Google's Pixel 4A, so everything in this shot actually looks very sharp.
