After launching the satellites, the Falcon 9 rocket successfully returned to land on solid ground near the launch site rather than at sea. The satellites will become part of a six-satellite constellation that will work in tandem with an Italian constellation known as COSMO-SkyMed. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, with the company's Crew Dragon spacecraft onboard, sits on the pad before its launch to the ISS in March 2019. The Demo-1 mission was the first launch of a commercially built and operated American spacecraft and space system designed for humans as part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program.
