Gallery: Tron T-Shirts Draw From Comics, Vintage Games
01tron-vintage-legacy-660
T-shirt artists turn to vintage videogame imagery — and plenty of specialty glow-in-the-dark inks — when it comes to crafting *Tron*-inspired apparel. More than two dozen original designs have been submitted to the [Threadless Loves *Tron: Legacy*](http://www.threadless.com/loves/tronlegacy) competition since the T-shirt site called for entries last week. Many of the images play with the sci-fi movie's most memorable bit of hardware, the light cycle, and some bleed into other geeky franchises, injecting *Tron* DNA into *Pac-Man*, Batman and *Transformers*. See some of the geekiest *Tron* T-shirt designs above, with details from the artists who created them, and go to the Threadless site to vote for your favorites. Think you can do better? Submit your own design by Oct. 17 to compete for an awesome prize package that includes $3,000 cash, a pair of *Tron: Legacy*-inspired Oakley sunglasses, *Tron* headphones from Monster, a [*Tron* motorcycle suit](http://www.udreplicas.com/all-products/tron-legacy/) from UD Replicas and more. __Above:__ [Tron Vintage Legacy](http://www.threadless.com/submission/300220/TRON_Vintage_Legacy/comproll,106) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For this design, artist Johny Utah took a "comic book-style approach to Tron."
02excite-660
[Excite Tron](http://www.threadless.com/submission/300287/Excite_Tron/comproll,106) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fech went 8-bit for this interpretation of a *Tron* light cycle.
03early-years-660
[Tron — The Early Years](http://www.threadless.com/submission/300172/Tron_the_early_years/comproll,106) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This *Tron* T-shirt gets *really retro*. "In 1892, light farthings were all the rage," writes designer yayzus.
04tron-tee-660
[Tron-Tee](http://www.threadless.com/submission/299830/tron_tee_by_pete_burges/comproll,106) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "It's more of a classic *Tron* style, but I've done it like Batman-style body armor, where it follows the shape of muscles," writes Pete Burges, aka purgebs. "The main part of the print is the torso; the shoulder prints and blue neck and sleeve piping would require a two-color tee and special printing. Remove for easier mass production."
05myth-660
[The Movie, The Myth, The Legacy](http://www.threadless.com/submission/300298/The_Movie_The_Myth_The_Legacy/comproll,106) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Ideally, all of the light lines would glow; meaning the reds, blues, greens, oranges," writes shinoyamaguchi. "'Cause you can't have a *Tron* shirt and not have at least *something* glow in the dark."
06megatron-660
[MegaTron](http://www.threadless.com/submission/299777/MEGATron/comproll,106) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- "This design is what I think would happen if the vehicles from *Tron* were to combine into one Mega (Voltron)–type robot to wreak havoc on the computer world!" writes iceknyght.
07attention-660
[Attention](http://www.threadless.com/submission/300387/Attention/comproll,106) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arbeitsblatt imagines a light-cycle crossing.
08crash-660
[Crash](http://www.threadless.com/submission/300124/Crash/comproll,106) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Designer alexmdc envisions this shirt printed in five colors on black — with "optional glow ink." Optional? Really?
09escape-660
[Tron Escape](http://www.threadless.com/submission/299933/TRON_ESCAPE/comproll,106) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Geoxone would use "special inks," including "Super Glow ink to the colored lines so they will glow at the dark, like the movie."
10flynn-2-660
[Flynn 2.0](http://www.threadless.com/submission/300234/Flynn_2_0/comproll,106) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "This is a redesigned/updated version of my past submission: '[Legacy of Flynn](http://www.threadless.com/submission/291832/Legacy_of_Flynn/showmore,designs),'" writes HDDoobie. "I have updated and improved the design on the hood and did a total redesign of the Identity Disc on the back of the shirt."
11just-game-660
[They Say It's Just a Game](http://www.threadless.com/submission/299849/They_say_it_s_just_a_game/comproll,106) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Blue vs red, good guys vs bad guys, you know the rules," writes by rodrigobhz. "There can be only one. Who's gonna win?"

[Light Cycle](http://www.threadless.com/submission/300348/Light_Cycle/comproll,106 ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Artist 5eth's T-shirt is just one of several visual puns based on *Tron*'s light cycles.
13pacman-660
[PacTron](http://www.threadless.com/submission/300218/PacTron/comproll,106) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Looks like our light cycle has accidentally been uploaded to the *Pac-Man* universe," writes tbomber.
14print-copie
[Pixelization](http://www.threadless.com/submission/299969/pixelization/comproll,106) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Big fan of *Tron* first movie, especially the 'pixelization' scene at the beginning," writes milune. "Dreamed to join Flynn to defeat MCP but only had a NES."
