Gallery: Tusken Triumph: Raider Poster Sells Out in 25 Minutes Flat
01the-bride
*The Bride* ----------- Martin Astin's *The Bride*, based on *[Bride of Frankenstein](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bride_of_Frankenstein)*, sold out in an hour. "The poster started while I was watching the film," he said, "and the reanimating-a-heart-on-a-plate scene came up. 'We must be patient – the human heart is more complex than any other part of the body.' It just outlined the main theme of the movie for me. For the visuals, my main references were antique medical illustrations, which showed the right mix of science and gothic horror." *Follow us on Twitter: [@lewiswallace](http://twitter.com/lewiswallace) and [@theunderwire](http://twitter.com/theunderwire)*. __See Also:__ - [Wired's Favorite Sci-Fi Flicks of All Time -- Pre-*Star Wars*](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/underwire/2009/08/sci-fi-flicks/) - [Wired's Favorite Sci-Fi Flicks of All Time -- *Star Wars* and After](http://stag-komodo.wired.com/underwire/2009/09/scifi-flicks-2/)
02space-seed
*Space Seed* ------------ Martin Astin, whose *Star Trek*-inspired *Space Seed* poster sold out in an hour, said he "wanted the poster to work in a rational way, almost like a chart." "You may find several references to the '[Space Seed](http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Space_Seed_%28episode%29)' episode: modified DNA, a shadowy hand that could take over the globe, the universe or just a small planet (spoiler!), some data sets, and even Castor and Pollux (the Gemini constellation), a tip by professor Rob Jones; as the original writers meant for Khan to be a reflection of Kirk, like Castor and Pollux, they too are connected through their attributes as leaders."

*Scrap Yard Power Droid* ------------------------ "*Star Wars* was a pretty big deal for me as a kid," said artist Jeff Soto, whose *Scrap Yard Power Droid* sold out in two hours, in a press release. "I was only 2 when the movie came out, and I can’t even remember if I saw it or not in the theater.... One of my favorite action figures was the [Power Droid](http://www.starwars.com/databank/droid/powerdroid/), and I didn’t really know much about the little guy, but for some reason he (I pictured it being male for some reason) captivated my imagination. I realized at some time that he’s barely even in the movie, which added to his mystique. "Over the years he functioned as the worn out, floppy-legged power supply for numerous Transformers, GI Joes and Construx. He is small and cute, and found a place in my childhood heart. I still have the little guy. This piece is an ode to the Power Droid!"
04raider
Raider, the second limited-edition Star Wars poster from Alamo Drafthouse's art boutique Mondo, sold out in 25 minutes Thursday. The image -- a bold, badass vision of a [Tusken Raider](http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tusken_Raider) -- was created by [Dave Kinsey](http://www.kinseyvisual.com/), who hand-numbered the 24-inch-by-36-inch, screen-printed posters. The full run of 350 posters, which sold for $50 each, evaporated faster than an unlucky space slug that got in the way of a blaster. Raider (pictured above) was just the latest sell-out from [Mondo](http://www.mondotees.com/), the art shop run by Austin, Texas' [Alamo Drafthouse](http://www.originalalamo.com/), which might just be the coolest movie theater in the world. Previous Mondo poster sell-outs bore Star Trek and horror imagery.
