More About How the Apple Watch Listens to You

The new Apple Watches include several “intelligent” listening features that have privacy and security baked in. But the protections can’t change the facts of what the tools do.

OK, so, the Duo starts at $1999. That's eye-watering, but not surprising. This is a theme across Apple's product line now, as Julian noted: Some products, like iPad and MacBook, are just more expensive.

That's partly because of bill of materials (memory), partly because Apple has not actually diversified its cash flow all that much over the past decade or so aside from growing its services business (which generates a lot of gross profit). But even as some product shipments decline—depending on which quarter you're looking at—Apple needs to maintain its margins.

Notably absent from today’s event were the long-rumored AirPods with a built-in camera.

We’ll also have to wait longer for a peek at whatever Apple is potentially brewing in the smart glasses category.

I gotta know what this iPhone Duo feel like to snap shut!

Will it be as satisfying as the Razor phones of old?

Everything about the Duo is bigger, faster, longer thank other iPhones. Which is normal for Apple when it’s telling you about its new products; everything is the best version yet!

But it feels like going to a dual screen lets Apple take a significantly bigger step forward. The battery, the screen, the chips—there’s more room for all of it, and the company is really able to flex its technical muscle here.

Developers will get access to new APIs to update their apps for the iPhone Duo. Which, inevitably, developers will now dispatch AI agents to do on their behalf. Who even needs to read through the set of APIs!

The alarm clock feature for iPhone Duo looks cool! So much thought seems to be put into the software for this hardware release.
