I was skeptical about the new Wacom One 13 Touch. I’ve been a fully wireless digital artist for years now. My iPad Pro and I are inseparable. It’s my sketchbook, my professional productivity workity-work machine, and my favorite art tool. How could a tethered display tablet even begin to compare to my beloved iPad Pro?
Well, after some time with Wacom’s new drawing tablet, I found myself using any excuse to put the stylus to screen.
Right out of the box, you’re only one cable away from using the Wacom One Touch. The setup process couldn’t be easier. It’s a shining example of the ease USB-C brings to display setup. No wrestling with HDMI cables—just plug one end into the tablet and the other into your graphics card or laptop. Even without the Wacom drivers, it works as a basic touch display.
When you first drag the stylus across the screen, it’s immediately clear that this is a precise and responsive drawing display. The stylus glides effortlessly over the 1,080p, matte, textured screen, leaving behind smooth, precise brushstrokes. To say it’s a joy to draw on is an understatement. For any tool, the better it feels to use, the more likely you are to use it. I found myself inventing extra reasons to use the Wacom One just for the joy of it. I even used it to handwrite notes during a work meeting and to annotate this review draft with corrections and changes.
