Memorial DaY brings discounts to the mattress models we test all year long, and the sales are going strong. As a seasoned deal hunter, I know that mattresses go on sale pretty often, but whenever someone asks me the best time to buy, I tell them to wait until Memorial Day or Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If you've been in the market for a new mattress, now's the time to act, especially since most of these deals will expire at the end of the day.
The WIRED Reviews team thoroughly tests the best mattresses long-term. We don't conduct “nap tests” or base recommendations on first impressions. Our top picks are tried-and-true, and they're on sale right now. Prices shown are for queen sizes.
Feel free to check out our many other sleep recommendations, including the best pillows for neck pain, the best body pillows, and the best sunrise alarm cocks. Helix Sleep Midnight Luxe Hybrid for $1,824 ($675 off)—Use Code WIRED27
Use our exclusive coupon code WIRED27 to get 27 percent off our very favorite mattress for most people. We've seen it sell for about $100 less before, and they've thrown in more freebies, but this is still a great deal. Just be aware that the price might drop a little later in the month. In any case, the Midnight Luxe Hybrid is springy and medium-firm and should be well suited to any style of sleeping. The individually wrapped springs are zoned so that you have more support where you need it to prevent back pain. It also doesn't get too warm, though it's thick enough that you'll want deep-pocketed sheets. It's been our favorite mattress for over eight years.
Saatva Classic Mattress for $1,779 ($400 off)
Our favorite mattress for back pain is soft without being too soft, thanks to its pillow top and baked-in lumbar support. It's supportive from edge to edge. We also like the free in-room delivery, free mattress removal, and one-year trial. Reviewer Nena Farrell said it helped relieve her sciatica pain and was firm enough to support her back while also feeling plush for side-sleeping.
Sleep Number ComfortNext Lux for $3,249 ($750 off)—Use Code WIRED150
Use coupon code WIRED150 to get this deal. OK, yes, spending three thousand dollars on a mattress might seem a little crazy. But this bed isn't just your average mattress that you plop on a frame. It prevents motion transfer. It has an app to track fitness. The firmness can be dialed in to your (and your partner's) liking. It's on the soft side, even at maximum firmness which felt more like medium-firm to our expert tester Julia Forbes. But it's still nice and supportive, especially for side sleepers since it relieves pressure points without being so firm as to cause additional pain. Read more about it in our in-depth review.
Cozy Earth: 25 Percent Off Sitewide—Use Code WIRED25
Coupon code WIRED25 will get you 25 percent off everything Cozy Earth has to offer. We really like its buttery-soft bamboo sheets, which feel like you're sinking into a silky cocoon. We also like its pajamas and socks. It's hard to go wrong with any of these products, really, especially if you prioritize softness over all. Just don't forget the coupon code! Our only gripe is that Cozy Earth sneakily adds package protection on during checkout. Make sure to remove it if you don't want it.
Silk and Snow Bed Frame with Storage for $570 ($190 off)
This bed frame is a rarity because it offers so much value for how little you pay. The understated, modern design will look good in any room. The best part is the built-in drawer with magnetic closure. It takes up about the bottom third of the frame, so there's room for extra linens, out-of-season clothes, or your hoard of books to read. Assembly is kind of annoying, but worthwhile for how little you'll pay, especially right now.
Avocado Green Mattress for $2,039 ($360 off)
The Avocado Green Mattress is nearly perfect. The organic hybrid bed is made in the USA with organic and eco-friendly materials and construction, including GOLS-certified organic latex, GOTS-certified organic wool, and GOTS-certified organic cotton. After testing dozens of mattresses, it's still our tester's personal favorite. The only caveat is that it's pretty heavy, so make sure you assemble it with that in mind.
