Dr. Robin Berzin is Using Tech and Data to Fix Healthcare

Medical school does not exactly

prepare you for to start a company,

let alone a venture backed company.

I started Parsley Health to redesign

primary care medicine.

We took everything we didn't like

about the medical experience and we threw it out.

When you're building something from scratch,

you need people around you

who truly understand what that looks like.

And I've learned from them at every phase.

One of our earliest investors in the company

is a healthcare CEO himself and serial entrepreneur.

I actually met him on a ski-lift.

I was in the middle of raising our seed round of funding

and it felt like the fund raise was falling apart.

I felt like I'd lost momentum.

And I remember going to breakfast with Joel

and being kind of dejected and lost

and he looks at me and he says,

Robin, get yourself together,

and go out there and raise some money.

I kinda of looked at him and I felt like

I woke up and it turned everything around.

Entrepreneurship's not just about an idea.

A part of it is support systems.

And you've built like an amazing support system.

And I don't think you could have done that without them.

But like a part of it was you knowing that you needed that.

I met Schuyler Grant when I first stumbled

into Kula Yoga in my early 20s.

I had never done yoga and I never thought much about health.

And it really sent me on a new trajectory.

It was a huge realization for me

that mental health and physical health

are deeply connected.

We want to be a place where you can come

and be nourished on all levels.

It's so good. Yay.

What's making Parsley so successful

is really our team that's growing, and growing,

and growing, escalating this impact

that we can ultimately have in the world

and that we believe is the way forward for healthcare.
