[Narrator] In a cautionary tale

for all would-be criminal hackers

and rogue employees out there,

twin brothers were caught discussing acts of vengeance

against their former employer

by overlooking the fact they were still recording themselves

on Microsoft Teams.

Muneeb and Sohaib Akhter of Alexandria, Virginia

had been fired during the Teams meeting by their employer,

federal contractor Opexus, after their criminal records,

including multiple hacking and wire fraud charges

for crimes as petty as stealing airline miles,

were discovered.

That meeting, which took place in February last year,

only lasted two minutes,

but the subsequent recording lasted hours,

during which Muneeb and Sohaib discussed in great detail

the planning and execution of their revenge campaign

that would ultimately see them destroy 96 database,

storing US government information hosted by Opexus.

Sohaib has heard asking his brother,

who lived in the same house,

Still connected? Still on the VPN?

He adds, Delete all their databases?

Muneeb responds by saying, We are doing petty shit now.
