HelloFresh's Menu Is Now Longer Than the Cheesecake Factory's

HelloFresh already dominates the meal delivery world, harnessing AI and modern logistics to field an impressively gigantic menu of over 500 recipes. Matthew Korfhage put a range of their meals to the test to see how much they’ve improved since WIRED’s last review in 2020.

[Narrator] The HelloFresh meal kit is one of the oldest

and biggest meal delivery services in the world.

It's made a lot of big changes

since the first time I tested it in 2020

when I found it a little boring.

Depending where you live,

there are now almost 500 HelloFresh recipes on offer

each week, bigger than the menu at the Cheesecake Factory,

often with seasonal or even local produce.

On my most recent test in spring 2026,

menu options included a grilled cheese sandwich bar,

eight kinds of enchiladas, and 12 takes on ramen.

This variety meant I was also able to find recipes

for the kind of food that I like to prepare,

like a Gambian peanut stew,

a North African ras el haout beef,

and a Thai shrimp coconut curry.

Prep is easy and mostly intuitive,

and the cooking instructions

have gotten more sophisticated over time.

But note that cook times are almost always longer

than advertised, and it costs more than most meals

I'd make with ingredients in my pantry.

But the results have been mostly delicious.

Without requiring me to think too hard,

it's something I can be proud to serve on a Tuesday night.

Sometimes things to be proud of on a Tuesday

are hard to come by.
