Kiddie Car Racing for Adults
Released on 04/19/2013
Remember Power Wheels?
The toy car that kid down the block drove around?
Well it's not too late to get your own.
The Power Racing Series is a new auto sports league
that pits mini-mobiles against each other,
in tiny but heated competition.
Racers compete in three different challenges.
A drag race, a 15-lap mini grand prix
and a 75-minute endurance challenge,
where the goal is to complete as many laps
as possible without melting your vehicle.
Or falling asleep.
Team Sector 67 fielded a camouflage Jeep
capable of reaching 24 miles per hour,
thanks to two 1.25 horsepower street sweeper motors
attached to an electric differential and wheelbarrow wheels.
The true breakthrough though, was a remote telemetry kit,
that relayed speed, motor temperature and battery voltage.
Hit the Oh Shit button
and you can disable the entire system.
The unofficial series motto,
speed, glory, electrical fires.
Take this car, the Baby Burrito, from Milwaukee Makerspace.
It made it back on the course
after a high-intensity pit stop.
Team Sector 67 won the series.
They took home a pretty big trophy for such a tiny Jeep.
