The 560-Mile All-New BMW i3 Has Finally Arrived
Released on 03/20/2026
This is BMW's brand new i3,
a massively important car for the brand.
It is actually the second vehicle
that comes on its Neue Klasse platform,
comes after the iX3.
And, in a way, this is actually more important,
because the sedan is basically the car
that BMW sells the most of.
This is its flagship vehicle.
What we have here is essentially
because it's on the Neue Klasse platform as well,
it's the same platform,
but a new recipe slightly tweaked than on the iX3.
So, the wheels are smaller in width and size as well,
and that means that there's less, sort of,
unsprung weight on the suspension system,
more comfort in the ride.
There's also the battery in the vehicle itself is lower,
so the center of gravity is lower in the vehicle as well,
again, affecting the handling.
You've also got the aero of the vehicle;
you know, the aerodynamics is different to the iX3,
so that will affect its handling too.
Also, the steering is different,
so the ratio of the steering is different as well.
So again, all of these elements add up to, yes,
it's the same platform as the iX3,
but it is a different handling vehicle.
It's also better at high speeds,
more efficient too because of that aero,
and as well as having obviously a radically similar inside
with the panoramic screen there at the front
and also the new central screen as well.
And no instrument binnacle, just like the iX3.
This here is essentially a slightly different vehicle
to the iX3, and therefore will handle differently as well.
What they're trying to do is make tweaks and changes
and adaptations to the platform of the Neue Klasse
to create a demonstrably different car
that feels different driving, handling as well.
