Tinashe on MTV’s First Live Music Show in 20 Years

Wonderland is a new show by MTV that's really

bring music back.

I get the opportunity to perform songs live.

[Danny] Wonderland is a live MTV music show

but as important as that, Wonderland's

a massive live event in the middle of Downtown LA.

Wonderland is special because we go from

the television broadcast straight into

the Facebook Live broadcast, seamlessly

into the MTV Snapchat and to the Instagram.

There'll be a camera there and it's probably setup

for a TV broadcast, there'll be another camera there

that's feeding into a digital stream

that goes out somewhere else.

There'll be someone jumping in with a phone

to get part of a Snapchat story.

So everything's gonna be married together.

We're actually what some people may consider

the Slash generation which means we're all

into like a lot of different things.

I think Wonderland is that,

we're everywhere young people are, we're everywhere

that we would be and it's just like taking your music

with you in your pocket.

People historically as used to having very clear cut ideas

of what kind of music people are making

but I am a multifaceted artiste so I'm excited

to see that become like more accepted in the future.

I mean, it's about performance spaces.

We have two or three fixed cameras

and then we have two handheld cameras that come in

and capture those performances.

For the follow stream, we have a camera

that has full access across the site,

just roams around kinda all over Wonderland.

The place we're in is a old warehouse complex in the middle

of Downtown LA and it's kind of in a really good way

the actual opposite of a traditional TV studio

and then we've come in and just given it

a kind of deduction design like.

[Myke] We just kept a lot of the aesthetics

of the raw building structure.

It's really grungy and feels super LA.

I want people to take away from this experience

the general appreciation for music

and live music again I think.

It's been a while since we've made it as important

as it really is and this is just one step

in that direction which is really exciting.
