Unitree Says This Giant Mecha Robot Can Be Yours For $650,000
Released on 05/13/2026
[Narrator] Always wanted your own Mecha?
Got $650,000 to spare?
Hangzhou-based robotics company Unitree,
best known for its G1 Humanoids just revealed
its latest products.
A giant walking, crawling,
transforming, wall-smashing Mecha called the GDO1.
A promotional video set to thunderous rock
music shows founder and CEO Xingxing Wang with the Mecha
before climbing into its open air belly.
The video then cuts to the GDO1 smashing through a wall
of cinder blocks, seemingly without a pilot on board.
The red-limbed robot is also shown contorting itself
by bending backwards
and doing the spider walk from the exorcist.
Unitree confirmed to WIRED
that this is is not an elaborate prank,
but an actual product it's selling.
The company already makes the world's most
popular quadruped and humanoid robots,
and it's G1 humanoids frequently star
in social media clips dancing,
performing acrobatics, and doing kung fu.
Unitree's success partly comes down to its price.
Its cheapest humanoid robot costs around $15,000,
while some US made models can cost 10 times more.
Experts say the company's access
to China's huge hardware supply chain gives it a major cost
advantage and its robots are also easy for researchers
to train with AI.
The GDO1 seems built less for practical use
and more for destruction and publicity.
So forget a Ferrari or a Patek Philippe.
Next time you're in need of some street cred,
just smash your away into the office in a GDO1.
