Wreck-It Ralph Interview
Released on 10/18/2012
I've been known to game.
Ralph abandoned his gaming.
[Voiceover] Welcome to Game Central Station.
Bad guy coming.
[Voiceover] Everything changes now.
It seemed like that would be cool
to do a movie about the secret world
of video games and what they're like behind the scenes,
but within it, you know, I was looking
for that one little story of,
well what would be interesting about that?
You know, and video game characters
really have no choice or free will of what they do.
They're programmed to do one job,
and that's pretty much it for their whole life.
And I thought well, what would it be like
if one of those characters decided he had had enough.
I don't wanna be the bad guy anymore.
[Group] Oh!
What if the guy who had the worst job
in the game who is kind of the bad guy character decided
he wants the good life like the hero character.
[Voiceover] Ralph's gone to Hero's Duty?
Goes off and goes into these other video games in
the arcade which is forbidden among video game characters.
You're not from here are you?
Sugar Rush?
You're game jumping?
Huge you know portion of developing the movie was
just like, how do we portray these different worlds?
So they're true, so they're genres, because everyone
knows what those worlds feel like.
Ralph, Ralph, we get it but we can't change who we are,
and the sooner you accept that,
the better off your game,
and your life will be.
