Orange: Foreign Calls Cheaper than Domestic Calls

UK mobile operator Orange, already one of the cheapest providers for international calls, has dropped prices through the floor on its pre-pay service, called the Call Abroad SIM.... In comparison, Vodafone UK charges £1.25 ($2.50) a minute on it's Pay As You Go plan and O2 charge £1.50 ($3.00) Price drops in Europe are expected, as the operators seek to avoid compulsory price capping form the European Commission, but damn, this is cheap.

PaygUK mobile operator Orange, already one of the cheapest providers for international calls, has dropped prices through the floor on its pre-pay service, called the Call Abroad SIM.

Amazingly, the cost per minute to call the US from England is 5p (10 cents), less than a mobile to landline call in England which is 15p (30 cents).

In comparison, Vodafone UK charges £1.25 ($2.50) a minute on it's Pay As You Go plan and O2 charge £1.50 ($3.00)

Price drops in Europe are expected, as the operators seek to avoid compulsory price capping form the European Commission, but damn, this is cheap. Hopefully the trend will continue.
