So, for the first question,

Is the future of your health in your poop?

Your poop sample may actually hold important insights

into the future of your health.

Specifically, we know that the gut microbes

that live in our gut hold immense amounts of information

around how these microbes are actually producing

small molecules and metabolites that can impact

your cognitive health, your immune health,

your metabolic health,

as well, as of course, your gut health.

Why is Singapore such a strong base

for advancing microbiome research?

In Singapore, I think there's a winning recipe

to actually enabling research to progress at light speed.

I think it boils down to number one, funding.

There are various funding mechanisms

that allow for organic collaborations across the private,

as well as public sector that meet real world needs.

Secondly, the infrastructure's top-notch,

especially with the ability and easy access

to the various world-class universities.

I think of Singapore as a springboard into Southeast Asia.

The research that I personally have done in Singapore

has actually enabled cross country collaboration

in the region.
