[Mina] This satellite image taken above Tehran

on Saturday February 28th

shows severe damage sustained at the residence

of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,

following widespread US and Israeli strikes against Iran.

US President Donald Trump subsequently announced Khamenei,

86, who had ruled Iran since the 1980s,

had been killed, while Iranian state TV

later confirmed his death.

This image supplied by Airbus to WIRED

among other media outlets is one of the few available

showing the extent of the US and Israeli strikes,

which are ongoing and have been followed by

retaliatory Iranian missile and drone attacks

across the Middle East, including Israel,

Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar.

These images were supplied to WIRED

by Planet Labs, showing the aftermath of strikes

upon a facility at Tabriz, Northwestern Iran.

Ventor, previously known as Maxar Intelligence,

told WIRED that cloud cover obscured parts of Tehran

on Saturday as the strikes began.

But it has supplied a series of images showing strike damage

on an Iranian naval base in the south of the country

at Konarak, as well as activity at the nearby air base

and drone facilities.

Meanwhile, aerial footage showed the impact

of the strikes upon the Strait of Hormuz,

a key shipping lane between Oman and Iran,

through which about a fifth of the world's

total oil consumption passes through.
